The Koreans appear to be as focused as ever as they easily breezed through the first three rounds of the Winners Bracket. At times, they made other players look downright silly. In his first match of the day, Nin played 725, Northern California’s best Steve player, in a Steve mirror match. 725 only won one round total out of the three games they played, and in the end it was obvious that Nin was toying with him (He ended the last round of the last game with a Dempsey roll for crying out loud). The same can be said about Knee. He has been easily dominating and has been using his main character, Bryan. Even with the obvious skill gap between the Koreans and most of the American players, it is their work ethic that really puts them into another category competitively. As an example, Nin arrived at the venue five hours before the tournament was scheduled to start in order to get extra time on the sticks. He refused casual matches from other competitors for the first hour or so, as he was meticulously testing combos and getting a feel for playing on the MLG monitors. Although he jokes around a lot with the other players, come tournament time this man is all business. It’s looking like Nin and Knee will have to play each other tomorrow in Winners Bracket Round 4. This may be bad news for American players in the Losers Bracket because they will have to deal with one of them.
